Greens Spoof API Ad Campaign
As our colleague Coral Davenport reported, the American Petroleum Institute launched its major "Vote 4 Energy" campaign this week, which includes TV ads linking domestic energy production to job creation. It didn't take long, though, for environmentalists to respond with a spoof. Their online video accuses energy companies of putting the environment at risk to reap bigger profits.
And the green groups didn't stop there. They have also spoofed API's campaign's website - vote4energy.org - with their own: vote-4-energy.org.
